As an instructor of the Design Fundamentals course I have been provided with the opportunity to work with university students at all levels of their education from a variety of departments. The position provides me with the opportunity to teach design principles and techniques to students who are experiencing design for the first time. I am provided with the challenge of presenting projects clearly and effectively and learning to understand each student and how they learn. Grading and heading discussions are also key elements to a well rounded design experience.

The University of Alberta and the Taiwan government selected 13 Graduate Students from The Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law and The School of Business to take part in a 10-day trip to Taiwan to experience the county and all that it has to offer. Scheduled events included visits to political parties, historical and cultural sites, universities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where each student conducted a short presentation. The experience was an interesting and informative trip that I am honored to have been a part of.
